The rose of Jericho is an everlasting plant with magical properties.

In nature it absorbs water after heavy rain and grows rapidly, producing a flat rosette of scaly stems up to one foot across.
When the soil dries, it cannot store water like its succulent dessert plants, so it gathers itself into a tight ball as it dries out to go dormant. The folded plant has a limited surface area, and what little internal moisture is present is conserved.
All metabolic functions are reduced to a bare minimum and it appears to be dead.
The plant can remain in this dormant condition for years.
When the rains return, the plant's cells rehydrate.
The stems unfold, metabolism increases, and growth resumes.

When carried on a person is said to absorb negative energy.
It is added to health formulas and used in mojo bags to promote a long and healthy life.

The water of the Rose of Jericho should be changed every Sunday. The water of the plant can be used to clean floors as an energy cleaner for purification.

Place the plant in a saucer of water and watch it unfold and turn green again.
